American Heart Journal has been a trusted resource for cardiologists and general practice physicians for more than 70 years. Now under new editorship, the Journal has refocused its content to respond to the information needs of the cardiology community. In addition to publishing results of important clinical investigations, the Journal addresses such topics as cost-effectiveness, design of clinical trials, reports of negative clinical trials, and the changing organization of medical care. A new feature - AHJ at the Meetings - reports the key findings from major cardiovascular meetings, providing readers with ready access to the most recent clinical research data. Read and respected throughout the world, American Heart Journal ranks in the top 3.7% of the 4,625 scientific journals most frequently cited ( Science Citation Index ).The American Heart Journal will consider for publication suitable articles on topics pertaining to the broad discipline of cardiovascular disease. Our goal is to provide the reader primary investigation, scholarly review, and opinion concerning the practice of cardiovascular medicine. We especially encourage submission of 3 types of reports that are not frequently seen in cardiovascular journals: negative clinical studies, reports on study designs, and studies involving the organization of medical care. The Journal does not accept individual case reports or original articles involving bench laboratory or animal research.
